GeoViewerIMS Background

   One of the biggest objectives of an organization who deals with Geographic Information Systems is to be able to make that information available to the casual user. Making GIS data available to casual users is very important. In many organizations the "non-GIS people" are the ones who can use it the most. Easy access to geographic information can save time and money for many types of organizations.

   The GeoViewerIMS approach to this objective is quite simple. We offer an easy-to-use, intuitive interface to Geographic Information Systems that allows the casual user the ability to access the information they need with little or no formal training.

   The GeoViewerIMS was designed with the following assumptions in mind:

Casual GIS users want fast, easy access to relevant GIS information.
Casual GIS users don't have the time or desire to learn about topology, shapefiles, ARC/INFO, theories of GIS, GeoDatabases, etc.
Casual GIS users don't want to have to add themes, assign colors, change theme properties, etc.
Casual GIS users don't typically need to make large maps themselves.

   The GeoViewerIMS is a robust and easy to use Enterprise Geographic Information Interface. The GeoViewerIMS is extremely flexible and can be tailored to any dataset. The GeoViewerIMS is controlled from one or more configuration files. All the settings for the GeoViewerIMS are set using the GeoViewerIMS configuration files. You can create a configuration for your water department, sewer department, and/or your stormwater department. Each configuration would contain parameters specific to that discipline.
